Damascus, Oregon Local Info

As an unincorporated rural community the area has been associated with its current name since the year 1867; when the area’s first post office was established. Damascus remained unincorporated for over a century until 2004 when it joined with the community of Carver and incorporated into the City of Damascus. The town is located to the east of Boring, Oregon. Incorporation as an independent city was taken as a preventative measure against annexation into the Portland Metro Area’s urban growth boundary. Local residents opposed annexation into Portland and incorporated in order to keep governance of the area local.
